Memories by guest Humberto Tan

What I missed most during corona? Travel, travel, travel! Just before the first lockdown was announced, I had three photography assignments in Brazil, Rwanda and Kenya. Then it got quiet on that front. Mind you, I'm not complaining, as I realise only too well how difficult this period has been for healthcare, education, and also for businesses. My hard luck is minimal in comparison!

A crucial part of any trip is the hotel accommodation. Visiting the gorillas of Rwanda, a wonderful experience. The live music on arrival, the dinner, the stories about searching for gorillas the next day. The luxury of the rooms, the golf carts that transported you to them. In short, everything was top notch. This made for an incredible journey that I will look back on fondly for years to come.

Luckily for me, I regularly have very pleasant experiences in the Netherlands as well, with exceptionally hospitable hoteliers working in such an inspiring environment. That’s why I’m delighted to contribute to this magazine, as I believe Oostwegel Collection belongs, without exception, to the Champions’ League of hospitality, good taste and good atmosphere. Unfortunately, I can't share the details just yet, but soon I will regularly be in Maastricht in connection to a large, life-changing project. When that time comes, I will most definitely stay once again at the beautiful Kruisherenhotel, located in the city centre. A shining example of thinking in terms of possibilities and opportunities, instead of limitations and risks.

Thank you, Oostwegel family, for making the province of Limburg more beautiful, hospitable and elegant with your ‘collection’.
